The City of New Florence has a Mayor-City Administrator-Aldermen form of government. The Board of Aldermen is the governing body of the City, elected by the public.

The Board of Aldermen is comprised of five (5) members, two (2) from each ward. Board members have staggered two-year terms and are responsible for determining policy, enacting ordinances, and authorizing expenditures.

The Mayor is elected at large for a two-year term. The executive power in the City shall be vested in a Mayor who shall be recognized as the head of the City for all legal and ceremonial purposes and by the Governor of Missouri for all purposes of military law. As a member of the Board of Aldermen, the mayor shall have all powers, rights, privileges, duties, and responsibilities of a member of the Board of Aldermen, including the right to vote to break a tie on questions.
Other responsibilities of the Mayor may include:
 Attending, voting and presiding over Board of Aldermen meetings
Appointing members of various Boards & Commissions
Board of Aldermen Minutes, Resolutions, and Ordinances are accessible online. Board of Aldermen records prior to online record-keeping are retained in the City Clerk's office. Please submit a Public Records Request to obtain these records.
