The Board of Adjustment hears and decides appeals when an applicant requests an exception to the Municipal Code under Chapter 405: Zoning Regulations.
Meetings are held at the call of the Chair.
The Board of Adjustment is comprised of five (5) members and three (3) alternate members who serve for five-year terms and are appointed by the Board of Aldermen.
The Planning & Zoning Commission is responsible for advising and making recommendations regarding planning and zoning regulations in the City to the Mayor and Board of Aldermen.

The Planning & Zoning Commission is comprised of not more than fifteen (15) nor fewer than five (5) citizens that serve four-year terms and are appointed by the Mayor and approved by the Board of Aldermen.
The Tourism & Development Advisory Committee serves as an advisory group to the Board of Aldermen for the recommendation of projects to expend funds received from the proceeds of the hotel/motel tax.
Meetings of the Tourism & Development Advisory Committee are held on the first Tuesday of the month at 6:00 p.m.
The Tourism & Development Advisory Committee is comprised of seven members appointed by the Mayor with the consent of the Board of Aldermen. There shall be five (5) voting members and two (2) advisory members. The committee shall consist of:

The Parks & Recreation Advisory Board is responsible for guiding the operations and growth of the Parks & Recreation Department and makes recommendations on the acquisition of land to be used for park sites and on the supervision, improvement, care, and custody of City Parks to the Mayor and Board of Aldermen.

Meetings of the Parks & Recreation Advisory Board are held on the first Wednesday of the month or at the call of the Chair.
The Parks & Recreation Advisory Board is comprised of an undefined number of members who serve one-year terms. Members are appointed by the Board of Aldermen. The Park Board shall appoint a chairman, vice chairman, secretary, and treasurer.
